The Communists enforced strict controls on all Christians from 1948-1988 through discrimination, intimidation and infiltration. There has been religious freedom since 1990; but suspicion, mistrust and division still affect attitudes and the Church, and there is still resistance to the gospel in much of Hungary. The need for evangelists is great.
